Baby Kitui with step-brother Hope on @lewa_wildlife. Lewa conservancy has been home to many orphans of poaching over the years. Hope, left, unfortunately passed away some months ago due to a bacterial infection despite veterinarians' greatest efforts. Baby Kitui however is growing bigger and stronger daily, hoping to be released back into the wild some day. Conservancies like Lewa play one of the most important roles in saving endangered species like the black rhino, providing them space and a protected area to live in. As I write these words, probably 2 or 3 more rhinos have been shot to death for their horns. There is a battle going on between the species and the poachers and unfortunately the rhinos are currently losing the battle.
